Twenty-three years ago... Peter Wile and Elspeth McLean-Wile started Wile’s Lake Farm Market as an addition to their dairy farm.  The farm had an orchard and fruit was sold to local stores and directly to customers who came to the farm.  The idea of a retail market was on the Wiles’ mind for some time.  Elspeth returned to work on the farm and as Peter says,  We needed something for her to do!... and the rest is history. What started as an outlet for fruit grown on the farm has developed into a complete market experience with greenhouses, a garden centre, and bakery with a coffee bar.  You will find  Quest coffee, ice cream, produce and a gift shop all within the Market.  As the season unfolds we carry a complete line of produce.  We try to find as many Nova Scotia farmers as possible to supply us with fruits and veggies during the local season.  Strawberries really mark the start of the local produce season for us.  Some of the produce we grow ourselves and we work with a number of local growers in order to have a good selection during the prime season. The Market is a routine stop for many of our Halifax customers who take a break from driving, grab a snack, and stock up for the weekend at the cottage.

COFFEE BAR We are working with Quest Coffee of Pleasantville, offering freshly brewed coffee.  Many folks are becoming regulars daily, enjoying the organic coffee which you can purchase brewed or as coffee beans to take home and brew yourself.  We have lots of treats that taste great with fresh coffee! Take your coffee break with us!   ICE CREAM Our ice creams are generous.  We have child’s size for those who want a taste (this is the size that I have every night before coming home).  We also have a size perfect for those who like to offer a treat to their four-legged friends. We have plain cones, sugar cones and dishes - if you prefer not to have a cone.   KIDS & DOGS We welcome all visitors the two-legged and four-legged kind.  We have play area for the children with a sandbox, toys and some pet bunnies.  There is a picnic area in the gazebo and lots of places for enjoying a cup of coffee near our display gardens.  You can get fresh water for your pets and take your dog for a walk; we’ll happily provide plastic bags for cleanup.
