Gardening Guide

Perennials

Deadheading

Cut back the spent blooms of perennials far enough down so the cut ends do not show.  The foliage can be very attractive late into the fall.  Some perennials like Echinacea should not be deadheaded because the seed heads are very interesting and can be left for winter interest and to attract seed-loving birds.
