GREENHOUSE NEWS
Last Saturday we said goodbye to the greenhouse contractors and took ownership of our new greenhouse space! The crew made great progress last week and got the glass installed and all the final details were finished on Saturday. The space is beautiful with the glass front and sides we have a fabulous view of the Market and the surrounding area. With the beautiful fall colors last weekend it was a treat to stand inside the house and admire the lovely fall colors and late afternoon light. We just want to jump into the planting mode right away, however we will have to cool our heels and wait until March. There is still all the plumbing and electrical work along with the inside display fixtures to complete.
BAKERY ORDERS
With our closing just a little more than a week away, we encourage customers who want to freeze some bread to get their orders in this week. We would like to fill our special orders between November 1 and 6th. We will do special orders of any of our bakery items for the freezer. Just call and put in your order 543-6082.
DESSERT PARTY
Our closing event will be a repeat of last year’s much loved dessert party. The activities will begin at 6PM on November 6. Everyone is welcome to join us for desserts from our bakery and some good fun shopping. We will stay open until 9PM that evening.
Our closing will be on Sunday, November 8 at 6 PM.
GARDEN ORDERS FOR NEXT YEAR
If there is a shrub or tree that you would like to have next year, come and talk to us. We can order in things specifically for you if you know what you would like to have. We are busy now making decisions about what we will grow and what shrubs and trees we will stock next year.
GARDEN CLEAN UP
With the heavy frosts of the last few weeks it is time to clean up. No need to cut back the perennials too much if they have nice strong stalks and pretty seed heads. These add interest in your garden through the late fall and winter months when the snow and ice coat them. We still have some bulbs if you have not planted any yet, come by and pick up a few. Remember if you have deer, don’t plant tulips.
You should also dump all your containers and wash out the inside with diluted Javex water. The old soil can go around your existing plants or into the compost pile. We don’t recommend using it in the container next year because it may contain bugs and fungus that could infect your plants next spring.
SPEEDY RECOVERY WISH
We wish Joanne Daniels, one of our bakers and long serving employees, a speed recovery. Joanne traded in her worn out knee for a nice new one. She is home doing her exercises and getting on track for returning to work next spring. In her absence we recruited Shauna Wile (one of our other employees) to learn the art of bread making. After a very short training period she has picked up the bakery work and will be helping Leonore and Jennifer finish out the season. We are very blessed to have such flexible and talented folks.
